Academic Director, English Language Program

As the Academic Director of the English Language Program (ELP), my key responsibility is to manage our academic programs and curricula. I work closely with the instructors and coordinators (and learners when I have the opportunity) across all of our tri-campus language programs. My academic and research interests include teacher training, language assessment, and feedback practices. I love to combine my passion for travel, languages, and running by travelling to different destinations to run marathons.

As Program Director for Business and Professional Studies, I oversee the strategic direction and academic quality for a portfolio of courses and certificate programs. My portfolio includes Risk Management, Cyber Security, Privacy, Innovation, Information Management and Process Improvement. 

I am an experienced leader in education program management with specialized expertise in adult learning, professional development, and corporate governance.

I oversee the academic quality and overall strategy for the human resources, marketing, communications & public relations, supply chain management, occupational health and safety and ecommerce portfolio. From 2005 to 2015, I supported the Executive MBA Programs at the Rotman School of Management. Over the years I've worked in various areas at the University including advancement. I love cooking, baking and eating the fruits of my labour.

Gordon Davies, BA (Eng.), SSL (Scrip.), STD (Theo.) 
Program Director, Languages and Translation, Arts and Science 

As the Program Director of Languages and Translation, Arts and Science, I supervise the teaching of 20 languages and about 120 humanities courses. I studied English, French, and Mandarin at Trinity College, University of Toronto, and later completed graduate work in theology at the Toronto School of Theology (U of T), and in Rome and Jerusalem (Licentiate in Scripture; Doctorate in Theology). My areas of scholarly research are the early and late biblical books of Exodus and Ezra-Nehemiah, and the emerging areas of cross-cultural studies and political theology. After all these years, I am again studying Mandarin – and still finding it difficult!

Lee Gowan, MFA (Creative Writing)
Program Director, Creative Writing and Business Communications

I am the Program Director for Creative Writing and Business Communications, and I teach Creative Writing: Introduction at our UTM Summer Writing School. I’ve published three novels: Confession, The Last Cowboy (published in France as Jusqu’au bout du ciel), and Make Believe Love, which was nominated for the Trillium Award for best book in Ontario. I also penned the short story collection Going to Cuba. My screenplay for Paris or Somewhere, starring Molly Parker, was nominated for a Gemini Award in 1996.

Kelly Heggie

Kelly Heggie, BA
As a Program Director for Business and Professional Studies, I oversee the development and delivery of programs in Accounting, Finance, Law, Learning Design, Entrepreneurship, User Experience Design, and Extended Reality. I am always up for a new travel adventure, usually inspired by a culinary experience. Hiking is my interest in the warm months and skiing in the colder months.

Joanne Huynh

Joanne Huynh, MEd, EdD 
Program Director, Business & Professional Studies

As Program Director for Business and Professional Studies, my portfolio includes Medical Sciences, Data Science & AI, Leadership, CFA and CSC Test Preparation courses, Mindfulness, Human Services, and Social Work I am responsible for the overall creation, development and delivery of the aforementioned programs and courses. I am excited to bring my 10+ years in Continuing Education from TDSB, and years of experience working in different departments within the University such as Student Housing & Residence Life, Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering, and the Centre for International Experience.

Program Director, Business Programs and Partnerships. 

In my role at the School of Continuing Studies, I am responsible for leading the creation, development, and delivery of a portfolio of business programs in project management, business analysis, and business process management. In collaboration with our academic program team, I also lead and manage SCS partnerships with associations that link our programs to professional designations and credentials. I’m an avid curler and love the outdoors.
